The Style Engineer

For most of my adult life, I was the opposite of style-conscious. My wardrobe was full of pieces I'd bought hoping they'd help me look pulled together, and somehow I still had nothing to wear. I knew what I liked in theory. In practice, nothing quite worked.

When I eventually sought help and went for a colour consultation, I expected precision. What I found instead was a process built on vague generalisations: four seasons, broad rules, approximations. Nothing I would accept in any other domain. And worse: the entire framework seemed calibrated for a narrow band of complexions. Mine wasn't one of them.

I'm an engineer. When I encounter a system full of guesswork or intuition, the response isn't frustration. It's a problem statement. I started researching properly: undertone theory, the physics of how colour interacts with different skin tones, the science behind seasonal colour analysis. That led me to the ByFERIAL 4×4 Color System (16 Seasons)®, and eventually to becoming a certified practitioner.

Spectrum Style Lab exists because this gap is real, and it affects more people than the industry acknowledges: people of colour, people with non-Western features, men, anyone who struggle implementing their analysis results, and anyone who has ever felt like colour advice was written for someone else.
